Chesley has been enjoying spending time with family, swimming, biking, taking pictures, reading books from the library, and much more. His favorite part of the summer so far is the time he spent with his Aunt Delorah (10 years old) and Uncle Derrick (15 years old). For about 6 weeks they were just a few buildings away, almost always available to play. What great times they spent together!

Last Saturday my little sister, Deanna, got married. I had the privilage of doing her hair for the big day, putting together all the flowers, and helping to decorate their get away car.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Grison!

On July 13th we celebrated Kaden’s 4th birthday! His Aunt Delorah (Denise’s sister) has her 10th birthday coming up next week, so we threw them both a big party. What a great time we all had with family and friends, a sprinkler, water balloons, water guns, and lots of great food.

Thank you Karl for being my husband all these years and putting up with me. :) I love you!

We have been talking about actually going away for a week for our 10th anniversary. The big question is… where should we go? Should we go back to the Lake of the Ozarks where we honeymooned, make a trip to Europe, or get a cabin up north? What do you think we should do?

When Jesus Christ said “I will build my church” it was more promise than prediction. Through the centuries He has been faithful to “seek and save the lost” but He also seeks believers who will faithfully serve Him. In our story, Jun-Li was saved through the prison ministry of some non-NTM believers while God arranged for NTM missionaries to share the Gospel with his family. God is building His church, and you can be a part!

Well… he won 2nd place!

Chesley picked up his prize last week; a green bag filled with a book, magazine, video, and notebook. He was also mentioned in the local paper. We are all so proud of him!

To celebrate Karl’s 30th birthday we spent the day in Sauble Beach, Ontario. It was a hot and humid day, making for the perfect weather for our trip. We spent our time wading in the water, digging in the sand, walking through the shops, and enjoying some local food.

What do you see when you look at this picture?  It is a picture of a Ka’apor teen taking pictures and listening to music on his cell phone.  More than that, it is an illustration of the transition the Ka’apor people are currently experiencing.  The world, which once was so far away, is now only 45 minutes away by motor bike.  They are captivated.

Easy access to money and government assistance have caused a diminished work ethic.  The people spend less time working in their gardens and more time going to town, drinking, partying, and being promiscuous.  I am certainly not saying that every Ka’apor is involved in these things.  What I am saying is that as a whole they are being greatly affected by the negative influence of the world.

How has this affected the Ka’apor church?

The Ka’apor church is struggling right now.  The enemy would like nothing better than to see them give into these temptations and turn away from the Lord.  We have already seen many of the men of the church turn their backs and give into the desires of the flesh.  It breaks our hearts to see their families and the church struggling as a result.

Please pray with us.  Even though you don’t know these people personally, you can have a great impact on their life and their Christian walk.  We would specifically like to ask for prayer covering over the men of the church.  They seem to have been under the greatest attack.  It would really encourage our missionary team to know you are praying!

We went on a hike at Allen Park and enjoyed seeing all the signs of spring. There were several different kinds of flowers, buds on the trees, and even some bugs flying around.

We ended up going down a long trail and were wishing we had brought some water to drink. Next time we will be prepared!

Having a stable wireless topology will offer NTMC several benefits, some of which include: not having to run cables from building to building, lower cost than a “hard wired” network, and one that is important to the maintenance of the equipment… new equipment will be installed outdoors, in publicly accessible areas where configuring and servicing them will not interfere with people’s daily activities.

In the picture is Karl standing by the first install. The radio is the white portion at the bottom, and the antenna is the dingy white portion at top. Together these units are a rugged version of a home wireless router that is designed to withstand the elements (down to -40 degrees if it ever gets that cold outside) and to push out the most power to get network access to where it is needed. It also runs on a technology called POE (power over ethernet) so that separate electric lines do not need to be run outside to power the equipment.

Staff and students are already running happily over this setup and Karl expects to be duplicating this type of network access around campus, however he and his team leader have decided to let this equipment run for a few months to see how well it performs in the long run. Good idea.

In the meantime, Karl will be looking at overhauling the NTMC HQ’s network storage and backup strategy. It could use the same kind of care as the various networks on campus have had. :-)

What a privilege it was to be able to take their engagement photos. I had such a great time doing it! Karl and I have put the pictures in a gallery for you to enjoy.

Spent some time today asking questions and getting pointers from my neighbor who is a photographer. She has a digital SLR, so we spent much of our time trying to figure out how to get my camera to do what her’s was doing.  I had a lot of fun and I learned a lot too! This evening I was using my new found knowledge and got a few cool pictures.

Unfortunately, I ran out of battery before I could take anymore.

Kaden and Chesley have been taking advantage of the warmer weather by riding their bikes and exploring around our new home.

What can I say…  Boys + Outdoors = Lots of Fun!

On Saturday we traveled to Ayr, Ontario to celebrate Great Nanny’s 95th birthday. We were excited to see so many family and friends who were there.

Back in 2006 we got a 5 generation picture with Nanny. She is “Mom” to 2 children, “Nanny” to 9 grandchildren, “Great Nanny” to 25 great grandchildren, and “Great-Great Nanny” to 5 great-great grandchildren. Now, that’s something to be proud of! What a privilege it is for Chesley and Kaden to know their Great-Great Nanny. That doesn’t happen very often these days.
