A few months ago I found myself missing my “Moms and More” group from our home church. More specifically, I missed the Bible study and discussion about what we had read. I’m living in a new area and haven’t yet found a Bible study group to join.

In the mean time I have found a new resource that has helped to fill that gap… online devotionals. If you do a Google search, you’ll find there are many different ones to choose from. I have enjoyed reading Proverbs 31 Ministries (daily encouragement for women) and Daily in Christ (discovering freedom through Jesus).  Some online devotionals will email it to you daily, or if you’re like me, you can add their RSS feed to your Google Reader. :)

I have been really enjoying these resources and found them to be a great encouragement to me in my own walk with God.

“Jesus died for me. A death for my debt.
But I know there are many people like the Moi…
people who never heard that Jesus died for them.
Who will tell them?

On Friday we had a great time eating lunch with some old friends, Derek and Sarah Grant. They are missionaries with New Tribes Mission of Canada to the Dao people of Indonesia.

The Dao are an indiginious people group who were cut off from the Gospel by their language and culture. Back in 2005 Derek and his coworkers went to live with the Dao people and learn their language. Sarah joined Derek after they were married in 2006. In 2007 Bible teaching began and there are now several Dao believers!

We are excited to see how God is working in the hearts of the Dao people.

…to think we have Dao brothers and sisters in Christ and will one day see one another in heaven.

I haven’t posted on the price of gas much, but I thought it would be fun to show a photo that I took some months ago… during Hurricane Ike only in Lansing, MI. Seen below, these are from the “Saginaw 96 Amoco” near the I-96/I-69/M-43/Saginaw Hwy interchange.

Here’s an article that talks about $4.00 a gallon gas. There were quite a few lines that day as rumors were passed around about it going up to $5.00. From a Google Streetview, you can see this same station at $3.19 per gallon, not sure when though.

Current prices on lansinggasprices.com show Sam’s Club and Speedway leading at $1.53 per gallon for lowest. Listed below that set is the high prices, which shows the same station pictured above (only titled “BP” - same address), leading at $1.89 per gallon.

the-lamb

Around this time of the year I find myself replaying the story in this book called The Lamb.

In Old Testament times the Israelites had to bring a lamb to an altar to die in order to pay for their sin. But this was not a long term solution. They continually had to bring another lamb every time they sinned. But Jesus was the final lamb. No longer do we have to bring a lamb every time we sin. Jesus paid for all our sin. Jesus is the Lamb, our Lamb!

Happy Easter everyone!

(For any of you who have never heard of this book, it is really great.)
