When Jesus Christ said “I will build my church” it was more promise than prediction. Through the centuries He has been faithful to “seek and save the lost” but He also seeks believers who will faithfully serve Him. In our story, Jun-Li was saved through the prison ministry of some non-NTM believers while God arranged for NTM missionaries to share the Gospel with his family. God is building His church, and you can be a part!

Read more from the GPS, a quarterly update from New Tribes Mission of Canada. This is the June 2010 issue. Enjoy!

In a remote tribal village a missionary beings her day contemplating how to balance her two main responsibilities: connecting with the ladies in the village and meeting the educational needs of her children.

New Tribes Mission believes that one of the highest priorities of missionaries is the care of their own children. But this need not conflict with ministry.

We wanted to share with you the latest quarterly newsletter, GPS, that New Tribes Mission of Canada publishes. Enjoy!

nate-and-pal-tribal-men pal-team Mason and Kim Lockwood (friends of Denise) and Nate and Elizabeth Claasen plan to move into a Pal village in Papua New Guinea to begin a church planting ministry.

A year ago the Lord opened the door and they have since been preparing and making arrangements for the move. The missionary team decided on an area that is suitable to land a helicopter and had the area cleared. Then they choose an area to for their houses which were later built in September.

“There has been much enthusiasm on the part of the Pal people in helping us to get settled,” Kim wrote. “The Pal folks had gathered all the poles and materials necessary to go ahead and build the two houses.”

God has been providing each step of the way and now, Lord willing, will be moving into Pal on the third week of this month. (Just two weeks from now!)

Once they settle into their new homes they can begin culture and language acquisition. Please pray for the Lockwoods and Claasens during this transition and for God’s provision as they move forward to bring God’s Word to the Pal people.

appleJehovah Jirah - “God Will Provide”

God has been providing for our family in many ways!

You may have read in a previous post about our need for appliances. Before we even knew that we would need them God had already supplied us a washing machine. After we shared of our need, many responded back and offered two stoves, two refrigerators, and a dishwasher!

God has also provided food for us. On this last Sunday we came home from church with an entire bushel of apples that had been given to us! Denise has been busy dehydrating them for snacks and making homemade applesauce. Also, here at New Tribes Mission of Canada there is a “food room” where people can donate to the missionaries and students on campus. This last week we have been able to get a variety of items including an entire box of frozen shepherd’s pie. Anyone want to come for dinner?

Recently Chesley and Kaden have been taking turns praying before meals. It has been a great opportunity to stop and talk with them about real ways God has been working in our lives.

Thank you so much for your prayers. Praise Him for the ways He has been supplying our needs and continue to pray for His provision  for us!

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15

toiletries

Thanks just isn’t enough to express the way we feel right now. So many have given to us these last few weeks in so many ways. We have been given 7 boxes of boy clothes as well as a large box of toiletries. To help with this last week of packing two families have provided dinner for us. Last night we had lasagne with green beans, corn, garlic bread, and a bowl of fruit. It was very delicious!

Yesterday we went to our small group for the last time. Both of us left with an overwhelming thankfulness for the friendships that God has given to us in that group. It’s hard to say goodbye knowing how much those guys mean to us and how much we will miss them.

God has blessed us in so many ways!

On Friday we had a great time eating lunch with some old friends, Derek and Sarah Grant. They are missionaries with New Tribes Mission of Canada to the Dao people of Indonesia.

The Dao are an indiginious people group who were cut off from the Gospel by their language and culture. Back in 2005 Derek and his coworkers went to live with the Dao people and learn their language. Sarah joined Derek after they were married in 2006. In 2007 Bible teaching began and there are now several Dao believers!

We are excited to see how God is working in the hearts of the Dao people.

…to think we have Dao brothers and sisters in Christ and will one day see one another in heaven.
