For the second year in a row, Chesley has entered a story in a writing contest. Lightning Man’s Protective Armor is about a boy who dreams of being a hero and goes by the name… “Lightning Man”. This story is inspired by Chesley’s own life. The illustrations were the result of a great deal of time and hard work.

Special thanks goes out to Grandma Haynes who gave Chesley the markers that were used in the illustrations.

Tuesday was the first day of school in the Herrick home.

Chesley was quite reluctant but quickly changed his mind when he saw the stack of new school books. Most things were review for him but one new thing he did was begin to practice cursive handwriting.

Can you believe Chesley is in first grade this year?

Chesely entered into the 15th annual Reading Rainbow Writers and Illustrators Contest. He received a certificate for his entry as well as a gift certificate for a free happy meal at McDonalds. We are very proud of him and the story he wrote called Snowball’s First Time Outside.

Good Job Chesley!!

Yesterday was Chesley’s first day of Kindergarten! It’s hard to believe that my little boy is really old enough to be in school!

Chesley will be starting kindergarten next Monday! I think we’re ready, but I have to admit I’m a bit scared. I guess I’m just hoping it will all go smoothly and any bumps can be easily overcome. I have to admit, I am really looking forward to getting back into a bit of a routine. Can anyone else relate?

Chesley and I have been spending an hour and a half from Mondays to Thursdays doing school. He’s a smart kid and is doing well. In this picture he successfully put the numbers 1-10 in the right order. Good job Chesley!
