Cold
Jan 30

The sun is shining bright, the sky is a beautiful blue, and there is a blanket of pristine white snow that lures you out of your home to enjoy the view. But, when you step outside the cold shocks your system and the wind is harsh enough to instantly change your mind about that short walk you were going to take.  It has been terribly cold outside the last few days, even when bundling up.

Today the temperature is only -15°C (or 5°F) and last night it got down to -21°C (-5°F). The boys have been enjoying though. ;-)

Brrr!

Snowy Fun

It’s been cold and snowy here in Durham for the last month. The boys have been putting their winter gear and sleds to good use.

Chesley received a brick maker for Christmas this year. Now it’s time to start building a snow fort!

snowman boys-by-the-tree boys-and-snowmanWe woke up to a white blanket of snow that covered the ground on Tuesday morning. So, when break time came Chesley and Kaden were excitedly putting on their boots, coats, and gear. There was only an inch that had accumulated but it was just enough to make for a lot of fun!

As you can see, we made our first snowman of the season. Unfortunately, he had melted by mid-afternoon but, I’m sure we’ll have plenty of opportunities to build more soon.

Last weekend we got several inches of dreaded snow. Today the it is limited to a few shady spots in the yard as the temperature rises up to the low 50s. No need to buy sand for the sandbox when there’s snow available to make great snow castles! As you can see, the boys had a lot of fun!

On Tuesday we had unseasonably warm weather. It got all the way up to the mid 50s. Though there was still a cool breeze, we decided to take advantage of it. Chesley, Kaden, and I pulled out our bikes and dried off the seats to go on our first ride of the year!

Has anyone else ventured out of hibernation on these random warm days we’ve had?

On Sunday we had temperatures up in the mid-30’s!! It was so nice for it not to be frigid cold that we had to get some fresh air and sunshine.

Does mid-30’s sound warm to you?
