Settling Down

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

We’ve been here in this apartment since October, but just in the last month have I really settled down. Let me tell you what I’ve been up to…

I sometimes drive the back way to get places now, because I’m begining to know my way around better and like to bypass the traffic filled roads. (We live right on the edge of the city, down the road from the Lansing Mall!)

Where we are living now is a different county than where we have lived before, so I had to get a new library card for the local library. I’ve begun taking Chesley to the story time every Wednesday, getting us out and seeing other people when it’s too cold to be outside.

I have been starving for fellowship with other women. When I found online that a local church had a women’s ministry called Moms and More every Friday morning, I showed up. They are doing a book study on “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World”, a book already owned. Once I found out they provided child care it was a no-brainer decision. I went for the first time two weeks ago not knowing anyone there. There were over 50 other women there! I really enjoyed getting out and meeting new people. Can’t say I have any new friends yet, but that will come. Chesley really enjoys being with other kids his age too. He really misses the Preschool at New Tribes in Durham so this is a chance for him to play with other kids.

I can’t say I don’t have discontent moments with where God has me today. But step by step my heart is settled as God shows me what He want me to do.

Snow Cleared Car

…and so the battle continues! This morning I was again taking the time to clear snow and ice off my new Alero; something that those of us in Michigan haven’t done as much this year but is an expected chore for this season. My father-in-law likes to boast about his luxury of having a garage to park in, making snow clearing his car a thing of the past. But for the rest of us who work so hard in the ice cold morning after morning… I’d like to commend you for your hard work and encourage you that winter won’t last forever! You’ll soon be winding down those windows again and enjoying the smell of freshly cut grass!

Kaden is five months old and is as precious as ever. He spends most of his day sleeping, trying new food, and smiling at his silly brother’s entertainment. Kaden enjoys jumping, playing in the bathtub, and getting tickled on his neck. More than anything else we all love Kaden’s beautiful smile that just melts your heart!

Chesley and Kaden recieved matching lovingly crocheted sweaters from their Grandma Hanna for Christmas. Don’t we all have pictures taken of us ask kids like this, displaying new clothes we got?

Tim Horton’s in America

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

I saw this commercial in Lansing, MI on broadcast television (Ch. 66 Flint, MI). Yeah, Tim Horton’s is pretty good.
