Today we went on a short walk. I pulled the boys in the wagon and brought along some old bread slices we had in the house. Just as I had hoped, there were two Canadian geese at the pond. So Chesley and I threw the bread pieces to the geese and we watched them enjoy their mid-afternoon snack!

On Sunday we decided to do something different than usual. We took advantage of the warm weather and drove to Holland, MI. It was a lot of fun walking along the beach and just spending time enjoying each other. Chesley has been talking about the trip to the beach so much that I think we’re gonna have to make the trip some time again.

Good-bye

We said our good-byes to our 1989 Chevy Caprice. It had just become too broke for us to invest any more money into. I had a strange feeling as I emptied out the glove box and cleared our last remaining stuff from the car. You may ask, “Why did we say good-bye so easily?” Well, we didn’t. That Chevy ran a good life. Let me give you the list of illnesses it had… leaky trunk, blower quit, wipers didn’t work, one door didn’t open, it was aesthetically displeasing, the motor wasn’t doing well, the radio didn’t work, the alternator quit, the windshield had a big crack right down the middle, the cruise control was broke, air conditioning was retired, the interior of the ceiling was hanging down, the right front headlamp cover had a crack in it, and the exhaust was extremely loud.

It was an original 1989 Chevy Caprice, that we bid $600.00 on (and were the only bidder/winner… minimum bid was $500.00). We had to immediately replace the brakes. Other lists of repairs include using a self level drill to put a helicoil kit in for the replacement of a snapped bolt, changed the radiator, thermostat, the muffler system was changed, the tires were replaced, attempt was made at a new blower, a new radio, and the refurbishment of the air conditioner.

Needless to say, it was time to say good-bye!

Chesley is very excited to have his own computer. It’s an old Mac that Karl had given to him and it works great. It came with a bunch of kids games like Reader Rabbit and Curious George. For now it’s on the living room floor but once Kaden gets mobile we’re gonna have to find a new home for it.
