Last night we celebrated Chesley’s birthday with three of his friends from church. We spent most of the day preparing for the party and by the time they arrived Chesley was so excited he could hardly contain himself. The kids played with some homemade play dough that I made and each took a large tub of it home with them. Then we all enjoyed ice cream and puppy cupcakes that Chesley and I had decorated. Chesley had a good time and I think it turned out pretty well!

Chesley was born at 11:11am 4 years ago today! He was 8 lb 4 oz and now he weighs a whopping 40 lbs! He isn’t my little baby anymore but rather my talkative preschooler who is excited to discover the world! Happy Birthday Chesley! We love you!

Thanksgiving Dinner

Yesterday we had Thanksgiving dinner with Mom and Dad Haynes. I made home made pumpkin and apple pie as well as Green Bean Salad and Marinated Butternut Squash. The green beans and squash were new recipes so it was fun to venture out and try something. I think we all agreed that the Green Bean Salad was good and the Marinated Butternut Squash some of us liked more than others. We all had a good time and dinner was great!

Yesterday it was such a warm day so we got out for a walk around the block. Chesley rode his bike while I carried Kaden in the backpack carrier we have. It was a short walk but very enjoyable. Now I’m eager to get out again today!

Get Better Soon

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Over the weekend our lives seemed to revolve around Chesley being sick. Karl and I spent most of our Saturday caring for him, doing everything we could think of to help. On Friday the Pediatrician had said to give him over the counter drugs and bring him in on Monday if he wasn’t doing better. Chesley’s temperature got as high as 102 F and his breathing was labored because his trachea was swollen. But, by Monday his voice was back and he was no longer laying around the house. Having enjoyed a full night of uninterrupted sleep by coughs and crying we thought that we had made it through. But when we woke up at 2am to Kaden coughing, we knew it wasn’t over yet. Today I’ve spent at least 50% of my day just holding the poor little guy. He’s so miserable and it breaks our hearts to see it. I just hope he feels better tomorrow!
