Last week we moved into our new home. We're now living just a few blocks away from our old place at Pinehurst Townhomes. We're already enjoying the extra privacy and space that our new place has. We've been told that the tenants before us fed the many chipmunks that run around here. So, this morning I threw out a small hand full of cereal hoping to see a chipmunk up close. I knew the boys would love it! But to my surprise we attracted a rather a very brave squirrel who greatly enjoyed the nut clusters in the cereal.

Miss Murphy

Murphy is Mom Haynes' cat. She is very independent, like most cats are. She lives outside most of the summer and enjoys sitting in the shade of our car or sun tanning on our hood every time we visit. She often likes to come up behind me while I'm gardening asking for some attention. I then nearly jump out of my skin cause I didn't know she was there. I'm not a huge pet person, but over the years I've come to appreciate Murphy.

Check out our new home! Yes, we moved… well, temporarily. We were house/dog-sitting this last week for Mom and Dad Haynes while they're in Florida on vacation. It was a long drive for Karl to work in comparison to his normal 3 minute commute, but we enjoyed having a whole house to ourselves! (…not to mention a yard to play!) Can you tell?

Feeding a Giraffe

On Saturday we went to Binder Park Zoo for Karl's work picnic. We had a great time and spent the afternoon touring “Wild Africa” with Karl's boss and family. The kids really had fun feeding the giraffes some biscuits. The zoo was selling them for $1 each or 6 for $5. Karl started making jokes about bringing his own next time and selling them for 75 cents each. He could make big bucks. Somehow, I don't think they'd like that too much.

Geese at the Pond

Today we went on a short walk. I pulled the boys in the wagon and brought along some old bread slices we had in the house. Just as I had hoped, there were two Canadian geese at the pond. So Chesley and I threw the bread pieces to the geese and we watched them enjoy their mid-afternoon snack!
