Thoughts and Notions

It's now the in thing to be money conscious.  I've always considered myself to be a penny pincher though I've many times gotten what I paid for, as they say.

I did something new and had to share it with you. It's called Freecycle. I didn't pay anything, so figured I had nothing to lose.

Well, my iron died and I use it all the time. I thought about  buying the cheapest new one I could, but, decided to give Freecycle a try first. Two days after I posted that I was looking for an iron, I got one. The iron works and didn't cost me anything other than a few bucks in gas to go pick it up! Can't beat that!

Chesley will be starting kindergarten next Monday! I think we're ready, but I have to admit I'm a bit scared. I guess I'm just hoping it will all go smoothly and any bumps can be easily overcome. I have to admit, I am really looking forward to getting back into a bit of a routine. Can anyone else relate?

On the fourth of July, situated between an airport and a fireworks display, Denise and I looked behind us and saw the object in the attached picture floating from the sky.

At first I was thinking it might be a weather balloon… and other explanations were quickly dismissed. We couldn't quite figure out how far it was away either, being that it was dark… until it dropped like a rock. I ran and picked it up.

It was a parachute… and I think it had something to do with the fireworks seeing how there was a smoldering chunk of debris at the center bottom point. I beat someone to it too. Too bad it's not worth anything.

I took this picture of a flower today and began to play with it in Gimp when I came up with this. Isn't it so cool? I love taking really cool pictures. Some day we have to get a digital SLR.
