The Herricks have our own garden this year. It's been a lot of fun to plant it, weed it, and tending to it. Karl and I have put a lot of work into it and find it relaxing. We have been quite adventuresome in what all we planted. There are 16 tomato plants, zucchini, summer squash, acorn squash, cucumbers, peppers, fennel, snap peas, green beans, potatoes, radishes, carrots, watermelon, and strawberries. Many of those we've never grown before but it's fun to try new things. We are already beginning to enjoy the harvest of our work! Yum, yum!

Kaden had a great birthday this year starting with water fun outside and ending with ice cream all over his face. Kaden is a fun kid with his own sense of humor that makes you laugh!

It's been a week full of memories! We're house sitting for Mom and Dad Haynes and get to have the place all to ourselves. As you can see from the pictures, we're having lots of fun!

On the fourth of July, situated between an airport and a fireworks display, Denise and I looked behind us and saw the object in the attached picture floating from the sky.

At first I was thinking it might be a weather balloon… and other explanations were quickly dismissed. We couldn't quite figure out how far it was away either, being that it was dark… until it dropped like a rock. I ran and picked it up.
It was a parachute… and I think it had something to do with the fireworks seeing how there was a smoldering chunk of debris at the center bottom point. I beat someone to it too. Too bad it's not worth anything.

This 4th of July we watched fire works near the Ingham County Fairgrounds for the 5th year! We even have a favorite spot to watch from. It's fun to be developing our own family traditions!
