Exch
Exch is a small utility written in XUL and JavaScript that utilizes the XULRunner runtime. It allows the user to enter two currencies and get them converted from one to the other using data obtained from Yahoo! Finance.
As much as Exch is an exercise in XUL development, and an example of XUL to others, it is quite useful also!
Check out the installation page and try Exch out. You must have a working Internet connection while using the program because it fetches information from over the web.

Free Konfabulator
All of you Windows / Mac lovers out there have just been given a tasty morsel courtesy of Yahoo.
Yep, they bought out Pixoria who are the makers of a javascript widget engine called Konfabulator. No it isn’t complicated and yes it is way cool. Fortunately for all of us, they are now making it free for the taking… as opposed to the dollars it used to cost. (This reminds me of the Picasa courtesy from Google).
Download it and experience the goodness of desktop widgets and the colorful information they can provide. Google search from the desktop? Done. Weather with no browser? Done. Bible verses without a Bible? Done.
Here is the story from AP, and the website for Konfabulator.

Win95 and LAN
Wow… I am writing this on a Win95 computer I setup to do voice chat… well, I am sorry to say the Linux Yahoo Messenger client doesn’t do voice. In other news, I have dial up piped in to my Redhat 9 box, and this computer… How exciting! Anyhow, I am having trouble with the “dial up on demand” function of my router… when I request a connection it “should” connect… right now I have to go into the web administration and force a connect… definitely not the best solution. Difficulties lie ahead of me…
I see lots of networking in my future… oh boy!
